It’s been a couple of days since I posted anything, but there’s a good reason for that. Last night I got home and my hubby reminded me that we still needed to do the grocery shopping. I had a couple of things I had to take care of first, but once they were done we headed to the store with the little one in tow. We stocked up on what we needed, but we must have gone on the day before a delivery because there were actually several things that we had to skip and will have to go back for soon, like milk. Thankfully we still had a gallon and a half, so we can do without for a couple of days. We hadn’t done anything for dinner yet, so we swung by CiCi’s Pizza for a bite. It’s not the world’s best pizza, but it doesn’t cost much, and we can always find something the little one likes.
The day before that we had our post holiday party at work. We have a meeting every month where one of our industry partners comes and tells about their product, we discuss how business has been that month, celebrate birthdays and pass out the awards for the “of the month” winners. Our post holiday party occurs in place of our monthly meeting. We don’t have an industry partner speak, and we don’t have much business talk. Instead it is always held somewhere very nice, there’s background music, excellent food, everyone dresses up, and we are allowed to bring our significant others. It’s an opportunity to get dressed up, visit with each other outside of the work setting, and meet each other’s spouses, sisters, friends, or whomever they choose to bring. I look forward to it every year. There is one order of business that is handled at the post-holiday party and that is the passing out of the “of the month” and “of the year” awards.” We have several different categories that cover our different front line positions, our mechanics, and our supporting staff, which includes shuttle drivers and office personnel. I fall in the supporting cast member category. I wish I could say that I won supporting cast member of the year, but since I didn’t I am happy to say that the person who did win was an incredible asset to our cast this year and truly deserved to win. So I can honestly say that I am thrilled for her and her award. I did not go home empty handed though. I did win supporting cast member of the month and I am thrilled with it. I spent four years on the frontline, so it’s a huge honor for me to know that I’m doing a good job of supporting the people that put their blood, sweat, and tears into providing excellent service to our guests every day.
With all the excitement I didn’t get any de-cluttering done the last two nights, but I got back to it tonight. My idea of working clockwise around a room seems to be working. I continued working on the kitchen tonight and during my fifteen minutes tonight I managed to finish de-cluttering an entire countertop.
I emptied out a junk basket and either found new homes for all the stuff it held or tossed it. Our blender was taking up space on the counter so I organized our tupperware cabinet so that I could fit the blender in there. We don’t use it on a daily basis, so we wont miss having it on the counter, but it’s close enough that it will be easy to retrieve when we do want to use it. I then wiped down the counter so that none of the dust that had collected beneath the basket and blender would be an eyesore. I even took a minute to put a couple of things back where they belong that had begun creeping onto the eastern end of the counter where I started this project.
I’m very pleased with my progress and I really think that working on my clutter systematically will help me know where to go next so that I don’t just throw up my hands when I get overwhelmed.
I need some help from my wonderful readers, though. There’s a fairly big project that I want to get done. I would like to scrape up the old, nasty caulk around the tub and re-caulk it. Before I put down new caulk though I want to get rid of the spots around our tub that is mildewy, but I can’t seem to. I don’t really want to caulk over it and have mildew growing in the background. I have tried spreading a baking soda paste over those spots and, after letting it sit for a bit, spraying it with Vinegar and that has not had much effect. What are some of the ways that you have tried getting rid of the pesky mildew that grosses up your bathroom?
